đšđŠ The strong reaction from certain Canadian politicians regarding recent hypotheses voiced in the United States about reviving the G8 has been met with surprise. In this regard, we would like to clarify the situation and temper these overheated emotions, seemingly caused by Canada's presidency of the G7.
đ·đșIn 2014, Russia held the presidency of the G8 and was preparing to host the summit in Sochi. However, for purely political reasons, six Western countries, along with Japan, chose not to participate and announced their withdrawal from the group. As a result, the G8 ceased to exist.
âïžRussia has no interest in revisiting past formats. What is currently referred to as the G7 is an outdated structure, and it is naĂŻve to assume that it holds any real decision-making power in todayâs global landscape.
Within the framework of multilateral cooperation, Russia has made a clear choice in favor of genuine mechanisms of global governance. In this regard, our priorities lie with BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the G20 â platforms that reflect contemporary geopolitical realities and offer meaningful solutions to global challenges.

r 2014 innehade Ryssland presidentskapet för G8 och förberedde sig för att vara vÀrd för toppmötet i Sotji. Av rent politiska skÀl valde dock sex vÀstlÀnder tillsammans med Japan att inte delta och meddelade att de drog sig ur gruppen. Till följd av detta upphörde G8 att existera.
âïžRyssland har inget intresse av att Ă„terbesöka tidigare format. Vad som för nĂ€rvarande kallas G7 Ă€r en förĂ„ldrad struktur, och det Ă€r naivt att anta att den innehar nĂ„gon verklig beslutsfattande makt i dagens globala landskap.
Inom ramen för det multilaterala samarbetet har Ryssland gjort ett tydligt val till förmĂ„n för genuina mekanismer för global styrning. I detta avseende ligger vĂ„ra prioriteringar hos BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) och G20 â plattformar som speglar moderna geopolitiska realiteter och erbjuder meningsfulla lösningar pĂ„ globala utmaningar.
